For anyone to win in the money games, then they must be alert to money and understand their financial universe. Here I start by inviting you to ask yourself two reflective questions:
- Other than your routine basic needs buy decisions, how often do you make a financial decision? Is it daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, once a year, or none at all?
- How often do you get pinned off-balance in your finances when something not regular comes your way?
In the previous article, I introduced you to the unlimited power of your subconscious mind. Here I shall walk you through the oils that power that engine to transmute your ideas/desires into real money and wealth. On average, every single one of us gets unlimited opportunities to make money. We live in a world of abundance -there is more than enough for everyone. God/nature showers rain to all in equal measure.
Unfortunately, our self-imposed limits deny millions of us of our rightful blessings. Equally, our individual greed powers others to infringe on the rights and freedoms of others in pursuit of money. That was never the intent of the creator of the universe. Personal greed for money has only one sure outcome – ruin and curse to your offspring (see Jeremiah 17: 11). I am here to speak about blessed money & sustainable wealth (inspired by Proverbs 22:13).
Being conscious of money and mastering your financial universe is the greatest divide between the wealthy on the one hand and the average Jonnesses & the millions of poor on the other hand. If today I gave you a single shilling or gave you an opportunity to save 20 bob (say gave you a lift to a destination where you were to pay the 20 bob as fare), what will come to your mind?
If you are money conscious, you will surely say thank you for the 1 bob (because you understand the power of compounding); you will know the 20 bob you saved is an income you have earned that day (because it had already been expensed in your cash book)! But is that how the average Jonnesses & the poor see it? Definitely not….but all people who attract money and wealth always have an eye for that side of money and wealth creation. Is that how you see it yourself?
Being conscious of money and mastery of your financial universe simply means knowing your current sources of income; identifying your potential sources; and understanding when you earn money on the one hand and knowing what consumes your money today, what shall consume your money tomorrow, and in the nearby future on the other hand. Notice this logic is way beyond the purview of personal budgets that many of us have heard of endless times (I have no intention to bore you with budgeting).
This is the single power that you need to distinguish between the seemingly cool but noisy demons of poverty and the little small voice from the angel of wealth!
Now, allow me to deconstruct this with practical examples:
a). Many times opportunities will come across to you as a choice of either A or B – if you are not money conscious, you will more likely going to narrow your choice to that. But if you are money conscious, the natural response will first be to find out if you can have both A & B.
For instance, many of us are on full-time jobs but always get these offers for an ‘away match’ that may only require a few hours of your time, or a day or two of your technical expertise. Thinking A & B will help you see if you could arrange to utilize part of your annual leave on this or if there is an opportunity for flexibility in your work to negotiate when to do it…may be early morning, late afternoon or if need to travel like flights can opt late hours.
The fact is clients who offer such assignments always have a window to flex when they want your services – always weigh the available options before you say no. If in doubt, then the rule of thumb is to say yes first…and then figure out the way around it, there almost always will be one!
b). Everybody gets some ‘windfall gains’ – that is money you really did not expect every once in a while. If you master how to use your subconscious mind, this will become quite often. The demons of porvety strike fast & furiously in those moments (familier with..wacha niji-treat kwanza? sija-parte for loong! Wacha nifanye ka-shopping kidogo…and the likes)?
Dear friends, any such windfall is always a gift from your angel of wealth to secure your latter days. Your subconscious mind is alive to the fact that a day is coming when you will not have the strength to run around as you do now. It knows your children will need school fees in the coming days; it knows shocks like what we have witnessed during Corona troubles will surely come and throws those bonuses for you to prepare your safety net. This you can only understand if you are money alert.
c). If you are money conscious, you will always have a distinctive awareness of any change in your life. For instance, if you expect a child you will anticipate & prepare for the attendant cost –God/nature will definitely align opportunities to meet those needs. Unfortunately & tragically, millions who are dead to money instincts end up eating/blowing their offspring’s future in the heat of the moment.
d). If you are money alert, even in seasons of unprecedented economic turmoil, you will see there are many things you can do to make money or grow wealth – for instance, if you have a place you can plant trees & never had the time to do it, 1,000 pieces could translate to 10 million on the 10th anniversary of Corona pandemic; if you could plant 10 banana trees –you will contribute to saving our environment & have fruits (hence turn your current budget for fruits into a new source of income) in just 1 year down the line; you have a lot of time, you could read a book and expand your portfolio of skills or take advantage of the many online courses flying around –this you could translate to millions post COVID-19…who knows?
As I conclude, let me share a story of my personal adventures with the power of the subconscious mind when signaled with an absolute desire.
When I was in class 6 my business teacher flattered us with a fantasy world if any one of us could survive the cruelty of the village life and make it to the University for a B. Com degree (there were only 4 public universities then). There and then, fully aware of my family’s odds & circumstances I declared I will.
For many days after I confessed it will happen…..even though I didn’t know who will pay for it. Exactly 8 years later, it came to pass & guess what…. I got a scholarship I never applied for from Visa Oshwal Education Relief Board. To date, I have never met my sponsor, but my 4-year fees were fully paid!
