A few days ago, I went for my weekly shave in my local area. I found some other three gentlemen in the queue who from the conversation that was going on have families and in their 40s or 50s.
The conversation was about money and from the musings, they were implying a million in Kenya is really a lot of money. By all means, I could tell these gentlemen are in formal jobs somewhere in the city.
What was however upsetting for me was not that we are living in a very hard economic environment and that salaries in Kenya are still very low by any standards, but the fact that they sounded to have long resigned to fate.
Those that have followed my arguments here, I have clearly demonstrated that money and wealth is first and foremost a state of the mind. As a man thinketh so shall be their reservoir of money and wealth.
Here are a few rules of money and wealth that anyone who desires it must adhere to:
1. Money is a game of specific numbers: Unless the quantity of money or wealth that you desire is translated into a specific number, it remains a fantasy that shall never turn into reality. It does not matter whether the number you desire scares you or not, what is important is to know the number of your desires. Leave the rest to the forces of the universe and the gods of money to bring it to reality. That is the starting point!
2. Having a specific number brings clarity in your goals: This helps define tangible milestones however small, crystalizes your desire and provides a specific direction. That way, you’ll be able to know and understand what actions move towards your target and which veers you off so that you could nip them early enough; and
3. Clarity with your numbers will lead you to associate with the right people: Social capital or the people you associate with have a big role in shaping your future. Unless you have clarity with the numbers of your desire, you will never know who to associate with to lead you towards those numbers.
One of the sobering truth is, no one can lead you to a certain level of money and wealth that they themselves have never seen or made.
For instance, if someone has no idea of how a clean million looks like in real life, there is no way under the heavens they can ever lead into making one, no matter how many years you associate with them or how their ideas sound brilliant in theory.
However, spending just a few minutes with a guy who’s made and kept a million or has several millions of themselves, you’ll have set a new bar for yourself and surely stand on the right path to your own targets.
