Respect Money to attract and retain Money

This past week I have been going through an interesting book by Rob Moore called Money. I have been amazed at the similarity of many of the ideas I have been sharing on this page and what he writes in this book.

This is the first time I have read this book, so there is no chance that my ideas have been influenced by his writings. Rather, this just speaks on the universality of the time-tested rules of money.

Today I share an idea that Moore emphasises throughout the book. This is the fact that money leaves those who do not respect it and goes to those who respect and honour it instead.

An interesting fact he discusses is the reality that money is not distributed equally because that is not its nature. It does not go to the less fortunate, more deserving or the most spiritual. That is not its nature either. Its nature is that it moves away from those who do not value it and least understand it to those who value and understand it most. What a revelation!

This gives more reason why you must invest in understanding the laws of money and start respecting your money more. Here are five facts why this is true:

  1. The laws of money are universal and have remained the same throughout ages – money has no emotions, it does not respond you your needs, poverty or desires; it responds to your mindset towards it, your level of responsibility in handling it and how diligent you manage it. No amount of prayer, guilty trip or pity-seeking can change this natural law of money. That is why the few who have mastered this rule appear to receive and accumulate more with each passing day. You can only master these laws if you want money to flow your way;
  2. There is nothing spiritual about money, all that is required is basic common sense and diligence with it – it is shocking how the prosperity gospel is such a big business in this country and most of the poor countries. It’s amazing how so many people think prayers from their favourite preachers can cure their money problems. If this were true, all dollar billionaires and millionaires in the world would be from Kenya and most of Africa. The opposite is true. We remain the poorest continent in the world despite our singing, dancing, praying and ululations over money in places of worship every weekend and most of the weekdays. God cannot be that unjust; after all, He promises to bless the work of our hands and not the volume of our prayers. Furthermore, faith without action is dead! Let us therefore not pretend to re-write the order of God when it comes to money and wealth;
  3. Money grows from money and attracts more of its kind -this is the very reason why it’s highly encouraged to develop a savings and investing culture into your daily life. Those who have not only attracted more but are better positioned to take advantage of opportunities to make more money. Poor people think of spending, even what they do not have. That is why you’ll find them mostly trapped in debt, fundraising even for basic things within their reach and always looking for freebies. Those with money are wired completely differently and in the opposite of this bad habits;
  4. Money is a measure and store of value – I have discussed this on several occasions before. It shocks me how many people expect to receive the value in money by giving no value at all in return. Find something of value to give to receive money as its reward. Free things, poor-quality products, services and work cannot be rewarded with more money. That which you give in exchange for money, the same measure will you receive back in return;
  5. Money multiplies in exponents when it does multiply – this is the greatest secret in growing money and creating wealth. You must plant the seeds and nurture them to grow to the level where money starts working for you, not you working for it. For as long as you are the one working for money, not your money working for you, you will perpetually remain poor and live in want. Unfortunately, our feeble bodies have an expiry date for which you can actively work for money. If that time lapses without adequate money stored and invested to work for you, then misery and gnashing of teeth are inevitable in old age.

#The good news is that money rules are simple and anyone can master them. Unless anyone is incapacitated by factors beyond their control like forces of nature and non-avoidable diseases, then every one of us is capable of mastering these laws and making a fortune out of it. Complaining, whining and blaming others will never change anything; it is your actions, diligence and effort that will usher you into the world of money.
