Today is the last day of January 2023. Most people consider January as the most difficult month financially. This is because of the excesses of Christmas holiday spending and the onset of the school calendar in the same month.
January is also the same month that many people keep track of their New Year resolutions before slipping back into their usual routine. Sooner rather than later, people would wake up and the year will be gone just like that.
Unfortunately, time passes and there is nothing any one of us can do about it. With all the human creations, nobody has ever been able to extend time. The only thing anyone can do is to make the best out of the available time -24 hours per day, one day at a time.
Cumulatively, however, time is the greatest friend of making money and accumulating wealth. Every single day that passes will move you towards or set you away from your money goals. Here, it is absolutely true that any small milestone you achieve or miss will make or destroy your chances forever.
In this article, I share some considered thoughts that can help anyone succeed whereas most people don’t when it comes to money.
- You do not have all the time to live – from birth, our clock towards the end starts ticking and no one can reverse it. From your first income at whatever age –your journey towards retirement and earning starts slipping away day after day. The ‘foolish’ belief that you have enough time to make money is a liar from the devil. Make every day count, however small and you will never regret it;
- Savings and investing are always a game of time –it takes time to save enough money that can work for you. Investing your savings to multiply requires time too. You must be patient and trust the process. There really are no shortcuts on this no matter what you hear people saying out there. Show me any wealthy person and I will show you a person who has worked relentlessly for a long period of time;
- Easy things cannot bring you extraordinary levels of money – with today’s instant thing of things due to the digital era, some might be tempted to think there are easy ways to earn good money. The truth is there is none –while there are very many opportunities to make money now, it does not come that easy. You have to put in the time and effort if you will find the money in it;
- Patience pays big time in the fullness of time –recently, I read an article that was thought-provoking. That is the era we are living in, the competitive advantage now is found in doing those activities that will cost you more time, effort, and personal sacrifices. For instance, while Twitter, Facebook, or TikTok posts can earn you a lot of likes online within a short time, they will not necessarily earn you a competitive advantage of a specialty that will pay you handsome dividends in the long term. But writing a good book or establishing a column can earn you a fortune sustainably –but this takes time, a lot of time; and
- Small successes eventually create momentum – a breakthrough in everything comes after you build momentum. That is why it is said that when money starts coming your way, it never comes in small quantities but simply pours. The point where it pours is the point of momentum. But to get into a point of momentum, you must endure the small savings or incomes here and there first –unfortunately, that is where most people never get it right. Because you will think the small money does not count or will never get you to riches. Today I wish to tell you for a fact, if you cannot deal with small amounts of money –then you will never get to the big side of money.
As my concluding thought, January has just ended, question is: have you set your eyes on 2023? How will your 31st December 2023 look like in terms of your money? These are indeed good things to think about!
