Leadership is developed and perfected in the small daily things and routines

Days ago I shared the need for each one of us to be able to lead ourselves if we desire to win money and wealth games.

When all is said and done, your money is among the most private and lonely journeys you ever walk. Even when children start earning while under the care of parents, their money ought to be treated as separate from the family incomes. It is wrong for parents to ‘eat’ money earned by their children.

When it comes to money and wealth, each one of us will have to lead him/herself even beyond our last breath on earth. This is because as you accumulate money and wealth, you have to figure out how your money will continue to benefit your offspring long after you are gone!

Unlike what many of us think, leadership is not just about official positions in the workplace, community, places of worship, or in the family – it is first and foremost about taking charge and control of your own life.

Today I share how the very small things that look like daily routines matter a lot in developing personal leadership competencies. If you succeed in this, then you also have a BIG chance of succeeding in leading others in formal places.

Here are some simple things that matter a lot in leadership:

  1. Having a routine pattern of sleeping and waking up –there is a lot of evidence that waking up early and establishing a routine to kickstart your day improves your productivity, and health and eventually translates into money and wealth. If you have to sustain waking up early, then you must also have a pattern of sleeping up probably early. Having full control of when you sleep and wake up is one of the most basic achievements in leadership. This means you are very intentional with what you do within your 24 hours and what you seek to achieve.
  2. Regular exercise –many people know they are unhealthy and living unhealthy lifestyles, even when it threatens their very own lives. But a majority of people will still do nothing about it. There are many books, journals, online materials, and coaching programs to help you to even do it from home. Yet, many people never get started while many others drop it as soon as they get started. If you can control your own exercise schedules –then you can be certain you are a leader ahead of millions of people around the world.
  3. Ability to manage your passions and canal desires – while I speak about money and wealth, it is also true when you have it, then it gives you power, options, and opportunities not available to poor people. You can afford any food, travel using any means you may wish, sleep wherever your heart may desire, or buy any clothes you may want. Now, these same things make you attractive and enable you to attract almost anybody you may want. Simply put, the money earns you economic power –this attracts the opposite sex very much and thus the trap of falling into your canal desires if you cannot lead yourself.
  4. Remaining humble and kind to others – as money gives you economic power, it makes you stand out wherever you may go. People will start treating you differently and doors will open for you wherever you go. Leading yourself means the onus is on you to remain simple and treat others well even when they do not belong to the class where money has placed you. It is the rich and wealthy to bent backward to reach out to the poor and less privileged.
  5. Add value to the world and document your experiences for others to benefit when you will not be there –contributing to the betterment of the ecosystem/environment like planting trees, taking care of animals, and keeping our surroundings clean and neat requires you to go an extra mile. The average person naturally desires to eat from the world without giving back or contributing to its development to benefit others when we shall be gone. Many other successful people die with all the information and life experiences they learned over their successful lives under the sun without ever documenting it for others to benefit. If you can lead yourself to do these small things, then you can lead others successfully.

For instance, come to think of it –just imagine what it has taken on my part to create this page and freely disseminate all this information. Imagine how much effort is required to write 1 -3 articles per week in order to share this information.

I even do not know most of the people that read and share my articles –but I still do them every week. This requires going the extra mile and being able to ably lead me.
